Struggling With My Workouts Lately

As you may have noticed I haven’t been posting here lately, and that is mostly because I have been extremely busy with other business and work related projects. With that said I’m going to be starting back up with regular posts, and it will include posts that are more personal related – because I find this blog helps me keep on track with my goals.

Today’s post won’t be anything too interesting, but I just wanted to talk about my recent motivation struggles with working out.

The good news is that I have stayed consistent with working out usually 4-5 times per week for the past few months, and I have ate relatively healthy. The bad news for myself is that my workouts have been less intense, and my eating has been poor at times. Now it isn’t like I’ve gained a ton of fat or lost a lot of muscle, but I’m not in as good as shape as I like to be.

Why do I think I have lost motivation?

It’s actually pretty simple. First, I think being very busy with my work related stuff has caused some stress for me and has caused me to feel like I can’t be spending too much time at the gym. The added work load and stress that comes with it has also negatively affected my eating. Usually when I have less time I make worse decisions with my eating, which usually involves grabbing quick snacks. There is an easy solution for this that I will talk about in a minute, but I haven’t been doing a good job with it.

Secondly is the time of the year. With summer ending and the cold weather coming in there is less motivation to make sure those abs are visible and I’m staying lean and in good shape. I don’t have any vacations to warm weather coming up until February, so that doesn’t help either.

How can I fix this?

There are some pretty easy fixes for myself to get my butt back into the gym and working out hard.

The first thing I need to do is become more productive with my work projects. If I can get more done in less time daily, I will have less stress and more free time to spend at the gym.

Next to help with my eating I need to make sure I have healthy meals prepared in advance waiting in my fridge. Some people suggest picking one or two days to prepare meals for the whole week, and that is something I may start doing. Less time will be needed preparing each healthy meal, and meals will be ready for me to grab when I’m in a hurry.

Lastly, although motivation dies down during the colder months of the season I can battle that by setting personal goals to try and accomplish. My first goal is going to be to start posting here a few times a week, and possibly take pictures of my progress. Having pictures on the Internet of myself without a shirt on definitely should get me motivated. I will also set a goal to lose 5 pounds of fat by the end of November. Oh, and of course I can focus on looking good for my girlfriend :P.

Anyways that is what’s going on here with me – I’m still hitting the gym and staying fit, but I have been slacking and am not where I want to be. Taking a bit of time off each year of being really strict with your eating and workouts can be good for the body, but it’s time to get back on track!
